It isn’t “just overthinking social interactions.”
Social anxiety can make your whole system feel tense, on edge, self-conscious, and constantly alert around others. That’s why it can feel so hard to simply “relax” or be yourself.
When your system perceives social situations as threatening—whether due to past experiences or learned patterns—it activates the body’s fight-or-flight response.
This response is meant to protect you. But when the nervous system becomes stuck in this state around people, social interactions can feel overwhelming or exhausting.
Over time, your body may stay on high alert in social situations even when there is no real danger.
Social anxiety is not simply a matter of confidence or thinking the wrong thoughts. It often reflects how your nervous system has adapted to stress or past social experiences.
Social anxiety often occurs when the nervous system struggles to shift out of fight-or-flight and return to safety and connection when around others.
Somatic therapy works directly with the nervous system to help restore that balance.
My approach is practical and grounded in helping your nervous system feel safer around people. Sessions usually include three key elements:
Imagine feeling more relaxed and confident around people. Instead of constantly worrying about how you appear, you can focus on connecting, expressing yourself, and enjoying social interactions. Relationships can begin to feel easier and more natural. Somatic therapy helps your nervous system learn that being around others can feel safe again.
If social anxiety has been limiting your life, you don’t have to face it alone.
Somatic therapy can help you understand what your nervous system has been trying to protect you from and support real, lasting change.
I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space where we can explore your experience and begin the healing process.
